2009 JOHN R. WOODEN CLASSIC

BIG ASSIST WEEK

You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.”

---  John Wooden

In 2009, the John R. Wooden Classic was proud to introduce the creation of the Big Assist Week, a unique week-long community program designed to highlight the qualities Coach Wooden believes are necessary to achieve his idea of success. The distinctive new community outreach program will take place annually in conjunction with the college basketball doubleheader at Honda Center that bears the legendary coach’s name.

Big Assist Week teams participating schools and their local alumni chapter with a Southern California non-profit organization to create a unique experience for those in need within the local community. By taking part in Big Assist Week, each university seeks to further promote Coach Wooden’s message of giving to others in preparation for the basketball doubleheader.
